93 kg = I am too fat

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

According to standard calculations, my Body Mass Index of 28.7 is toward the upper end of the "overweight" category (25.0-29.9). This seems a bit harsh to me, since I don’t really feel like a fatty; just a little flabbier than I could be. In any case, I think it’s time I acted to reverse this slow and steady increase in flab, which is I know is only going to get worse as I slide towards 40…

And so, for the record, I hereby declare that I will lose at least 10 kilograms (22 lb) within the next 6 months, preferably getting down to 80 kilograms (176 lb), which would take me back into the "normal" weight range. After careful consideration and consultation with numerous experts, I have identified three actions that would probably have the biggest impact on my weight:

  1. Stop eating chips/fries
  2. Stop eating chocolate
  3. Exercise!

Uh oh… is it the New Year already?

I suggest you stick ‘Gonna Fly Now’ on your ipod to inspire you during your morning run down to the corner store for more chocolate and chips.

Chocolate is fine, beneficial too, just eat small amounts of dark chocolate instead of kilograms of sugary milk chocolate.

I also need to lose 10kg.

When eating chocolate on its own, I will only eat the good dark stuff, but unfortunately I am also rather partial to chocolate biscuits (Tim Tams mainly) and the occasional Snickers.

Body fat or BMI? 2 different things you know, and if you are using a BF monitor then only trust readings taken over a period of time, at the same time every day.

Did you know you currently weigh more than 3 people combined?? These 3 anyway ;) I think we are still hovering around 87…

  12. mark says:

these readings are BF (from electronic scales) all readings taken at same time of day. Also tells me h20 is 53% and Bone mass is 8.3
