Limbo is beautiful

Limbo, the indie game I’ve been waiting patiently for, has been released for xbox 36o and finally I’ve spent a bit of time playing it.

If anything it’s even more gorgeous than I expected, although perhaps a little more gruesome. I was going to write a review, but if you click through to the trailer you will get a much better idea of it than anything I could write here.

Ultimately it is a platform/puzzler, and I am having to remind myself that as something of a nerd I am supposed to enjoy challenging puzzles– rather than just getting frustrated within seconds and wanting to throw the controller through a window. I think my attention span needs some serious stretching.

Limbo’s stylish visuals are also a great reminder of what I should be working on…

looks lovely, like a Tim Burton computer game

Aw man, I hope they release a mac/pc version at some point.

    That’s a beautiful render style.

I can see why it’s currently xbox exlusive… lots of very subtle blurry shadows and layering which would probably be hard to port to all graphics chipsets. Certainly it could be done, but with such a game the last thing you would want to deal with is messed up alpha or lighting effects

It appears only two people developed on this. Going greyscale definitely cuts back on the art work!

Is there any possibility of the current build of drivey being modified so that you can quit on any key press or mouse movement? I love it, but it doesn’t work so well as a screensaver if you have to press esc.

Actually I think Drivey is a little inappropriate as a screen saver since it is very CPU intensive, and could turn your computer into a toaster oven if left running for several hours.
