Look Behind You
Something you really should try out if your aren’t already aware of it is the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. It lets you see older versions of a website, often going back years. I grabbed their handy bookmarklet recently which lets you see past versions of any page you’re viewing, and it really is quite enthralling to explore. What’s extra nice is that the links in a page appear to click through to similarly archived pages, so at least for a while you can actually browse like it’s 2002 all over again.
On the right you can see the original jujusoft home page, back from the days when I really thought I was gonna release some software any day now…
- Jujusoft, 2002
- Microsoft, 1999
- Google, 1998
- Apple, 1999
- Amazon, 1999 - Actually this one doesn’t look so different!
- Slashdot, 1999
- Myspace, 1997 !?
To add the bookmarklet to your own browser, drag this link to your toolbar: Wayback

Aaah – The drop-shadows!
Why aren’t all web pages in Times New Roman on a 50% gray background anymore. That look was timeless.
I remember that picture of a shack when I first discovered your page. I cannot recall which search or link is responsible for me finding your website.
It’s a pretty good way to revisit old layouts… I actually kind of miss this one: http://web.archive.org/web/20070216042903/http://intepid.com/
