I am weak / Quitting is hard
Monday, April 28th, 2008Many people probably don’t know I started smoking again a couple of months ago, after a break of more than 5 years. I mention it now as a way to add shame as an additional motivation to quit again. Last time I needed patches to wean myself off nicotine, hopefully this time I can do without (although I am feeling crazy anxious right now).

All the best! It will be very very hard, but I know you can do it!

Just think about intelligent design: God designed you to want nicotine, so you can’t change it, it is your fate, you’ll smoke again and again and will not be able to quit forever.
I’m sure you want to prove us all wrong, after all you have a free will, haven’t you ;-)
Or think of it as evolutionary theory:
You are just about to take the wrong branch of evolution, stop now and prevent this branch to become extinct.

Happy to help you out in the shame department. I offer a disappointed shake of the head, accompanied by an audible tongue cluck

Ok, I just had a whole day without nicotine, and I’m basically fine, except for the random surges of anger… I think I should avoid posting any comments on other blogs for a while.

Good to hear. wouldn’t want to have to cock punch you - as I recall it takes about 3-7 days to get over the physical nicotine addiction - the mental addiction is another matter entirely…
Also, as not many people ever mention this, the decrease in mental capacity is quite palpable in the early days… watch your driving!

I picked a bad time to take it up again, and a bad time to quit… my brain is so addled right now it is giving me the shits…

I reckon its great that your back on the durries. After all, it seems to have helped in the relationship department. Rollies are better though.
